Volume 6 is all action as the Neighbors stage an all-out attack on earth and Border. The past quietude of the training is now gone in the flurry to save the citizens before the hordes of Neighbors reach the populated areas outside the safe zone. It’s time for Mikumo and Chika to handle themselves without needing Kuga’s help!\
Story: A Neighbor invasion force, directed by a mysterious council, is assailing the area around border. New squads will be called in, especially as a new type of Neighbor appears – one designed to kidnap trion users. At the same time, bombers will assault Border itself – but is their objective to defeat Border or is it something even more sinister?
We get to see a lot of new faces this time as more A, B, and C teams appear to fight. Kuga will be separated from Mikumo – but is Mikumo actually ready to fight? And does Chika have the strength to stand up to the Neighbor attack? The situation constantly changes this volume from hope to despair to hope as the Neighbors reveal their true motive for the strange attack and Border agents step up.
As always, great fun even with the daft physics and plot holes. I’m reminded a lot of Bleach with all the interesting characters and one-upping situations. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
